In the first week of being officially opened, HCA Florida University Hospital has seen a baby boom. The facility has delivered 36 babies in seven days, and there’s no sign of the trend slowing down.
“It’s an exciting time to be at HCA Florida University Hospital,” said Dr. Jay Cohen. “We’re seeing that moms want to deliver in our exceptionally large rooms outfitted with the latest technology. We’ve been extremely busy and have another 13 deliveries scheduled this week.”
HCA Florida University Hospital’s team of top-level obstetrics and gynecology physicians have delivered 36 babies in its first week, an average of about five babies per day. The deliveries have been a mix of cesarean sections and natural births. The hospital’s first c-section baby delivered at HCA Florida University Hospital was Isaiah Irie Wolfe and the first baby delivered naturally was Luca Ramos Bennett.
“We’re expecting to deliver about 200 babies each month, so we’re on track to meet that estimate,” said labor and delivery manager Clanda Shulman. “We have nine labor and delivery suites that can support multiples up to three at a time. I’m confident we’ll continue on this trajectory.”
HCA Florida University Hospital features two c-section surgical rooms, with space to expand to a third based on community need. The hospital’s post-partum floor includes 24 spacious, private rooms with overnight accommodations for a partner to stay comfortably.
