General surgery is a surgical specialty dealing with conditions affecting the organs and structures of the abdomen and gastrointestinal system. When medications and lifestyle changes have proven ineffective, a general surgery procedure may be the best treatment option. We perform both traditional, open surgery and minimally invasive options for patients undergoing this type of procedure.

If a gynecologic condition is diagnosed, we are equipped to provide advanced treatment, often using minimally invasive options, such as laparoscopy or robotic surgery. Additionally, many gynecologic conditions also affect the female urinary system. The area of medicine that treats these conditions is called urogynecology. We surgically treat both gynecologic and urogynecologic conditions, including:

• Pelvic floor disorders, including vaginal and uterine vault prolapse
• Cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers

Bariatric surgery, also known as weight loss surgery, offers surgical solutions to patients with morbid obesity (typically considered to be more than 100 pounds or more overweight). There are several types of weight loss surgery, but the focus is to reduce the overall intake of food while also reducing the body's absorption of calories.

We perform gastric balloon, gastric banding, gastric bypass and revisional bariatric surgery.

Minimally invasive surgery is the overarching term for surgical procedures using technology and techniques that limit the number of incisions required. Large incisions typically require a longer recovery time, while smaller incisions heal quicker and offer less physical trauma to the patient. Laparoscopy and robotic surgery are the primary methods of minimally invasive surgery that we use.
